Limiting Beliefs and How to Shift Them

Grab a fresh notebook, fam. We’re about to shift some beliefs.

Part One

1. Notice Where You Feel Stuck

Look at an area of your life where you’re struggling (money, relationships, career, self-worth, spirituality, etc.).

Example: I’m tired of working hard all the time with nothing to show for it.

Ask yourself: "What do I believe about this situation that might be holding me back?"

Example: I believe I can’t get out of this rut because I’m not smart like the millionaires.

✍️ Write it down as your current belief.

Example: Current Belief → I believe I’m not smart enough to be successful.

2. Challenge the belief

✍️ Take your belief and reverse it. Write it down.

“I am smart and have the ability to be as successful as I’d like to be.”

If this feels untrue, you’ve hit a limiting belief! Go to part two.

If it feels or sounds silly, you’ve just demolished that limiting belief! Go to step three.

3. Choose the new belief

✍️ Walk yourself through it, starting with the limiting belief. Write it out, leaving a couple of spaces between this and the limiting belief.

Example

Not all successful people are "smart." Some just surround themselves with knowledgeable people. And actually, I am smart.

I figure things out all the time—like building furniture, doing my taxes, and making my favorite meal.

Look at that. I’m actually smart.

And you don’t even have to be smart to be successful, so I’m already one step ahead.

Maybe it’s not that I’m not smart—it’s just that I haven’t figured it out yet.

And I can do that. I figure stuff out all the time.

✍️ Write your new belief under the old one.

Example: I believe I can figure out anything I put my mind to— including being successful.

4. Congratulations!

Your belief is now shifted, you absolute Queen. The moment you realized the limiting belief was silly or ridiculous, it was shattered.

Then all you had to do was decide what you do believe. Well done!

Part Two

5. Heart/Mind Discord

When we really believe something in our heart but our mind is telling us a different story, the two are at odds. That just means your emotional heart and logical mind are not in alignment with this particular belief. So let’s get them back together.

✍️ Ask yourself why you believe this. Keep asking why until you reach the root cause. Write it all down.

Example:

  • "I believe I’m not smart enough to be successful." → Why?
  • "Because I never did well in school." → Why?
  • "Because I struggled with certain subjects and always felt behind." → Why?
  • "Because my teacher once told me I wasn’t ‘cut out’ for advanced work."

Bingpot! Now, we see where this belief started— it wasn’t because you lacked intelligence, but because someone’s words planted doubt in your mind. You then took on the other person’s belief as your own. And that’s why it’s limiting. Because it’s not actually your belief.

5. Reframe the Root Cause, You Glorious Unicorn

✍️ Now that you’ve uncovered where this belief started, it’s time to take back your power and rewrite the story.

Example:

"Struggling in school doesn’t mean I’m not smart. It just means traditional learning methods weren’t the best fit for me. Intelligence comes in many forms, and I’ve already proven that I can learn and grow in my own way."

By reframing the root cause, you align your heart and mind with the new belief you’ve chosen.

Your past experiences may have shaped you, but they don’t define you. You get to decide what you believe from here on out. And you get to change your shape should you want to.

6. Reinforce this Baddie aka the New Belief

Repetition is how we rewire the subconscious mind. #Science. So to fully integrate this new belief into your reality, repeat it daily until it feels so natural that saying the opposite sounds ridiculous.

For the strongest impact, repeat it 3 times in the morning and 3 times before bed with the data you collect along the way.

Here’s how:

Affirm that new belief → "I am capable of learning and succeeding in my own way."
Prove it → Look for small wins that support your new belief. Write them down to include in your daily mantra.
Feel it → Visualize yourself as someone who believes this fully. This is the best version of you. And they look goooood.

Example:"Success isn’t about being ‘smart’ in the traditional sense. It’s about perseverance, adaptability, and taking action. I already do that every day!"

7. Congratulations! You’ve Shifted that Belief!

The moment your heart and mind agree, your reality begins to shift. You’re no longer held back by old programming—now you’re moving forward as the new you. We should celebrate!
